Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and motivated Drafter to join the JT Cullen Engineering team.
This position is responsible for preparing clear, complete, and accurate drawings based on customer-supplied information.
Key responsibilities include creating fabrication-ready designs from preliminary sketches, ensuring all drawings meet specifications and regulations, and preparing technical documents and reports. A strong working knowledge of fabrication and welding is required; familiarity with metallurgy and GD&T is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Produce detailed engineering drawings and fabrication designs.
- Develop design specifications, documentation, and material lists.
- Verify that drawings comply with specifications, codes, and regulations.
- Utilize knowledge of fabrication and materials to complete 3D models, 2D drawings, CNC burn files, and material lists.
- Prepare purchase requisitions for material orders.
- Collaborate with management to resolve design or fabrication issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Drafting/Design or equivalent work experience.
- Solid understanding ofgeometry, trigonometry, and algebra.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and CAD software (AutoCAD, Solid Works, Creo, Pro Nest, Cut Logic, Global Shop ERP).
- Familiarity with welding and drawing symbols, dimensioning, and steel fabrication practices.
- Experience with GD&Tand manufacturing tolerances.
- Strong attention to detail and time management.
- Effective communication skills with coworkers and customers.
- Commitment to continuous learning and openness to feedback.
- Goal-oriented and reliable with excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Organizational and prioritization skills with minimal supervision required.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and perform under pressure while adapting to changing schedules.
- Standard office setting with occasional background noise from the shop area.
- Primary work performed at a desk for 8–10 hours per day.
