JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: DUAL LANGUAGE (SPANISH) EDUCATOR
PROGRAM MODELS:One-Way Immersion (OWI) and Two-Way Immersion (TWI)
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)or an Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) - Transitional Bilingual Education (TBE)
- Hold a valid Illinois Bilingual endorsement (Spanish)or meet eligibility requirements for ELS (TBE) as approved by ISBE
- Demonstrated proficiency in English and Spanish across listening, speaking, reading, and writing
- Experience or training in Dual Language, bilingual, or immersion instructional models preferred
- Strong collaboration, communication, and instructional planning skills
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Dual Language (Spanish) Educator provides standards-aligned instruction in English and Spanish through a One-Way or Two-Way Immersion model. The educator supports students' development of bilingualism, biliteracy, academic achievement, and cross-cultural competence while implementing the District's approved Dual Language program design, including language allocation and instructional expectations. This position incorporates all duties and responsibilities outlined in the District's Educator job description, with additional responsibilities specific to Dual Language programming.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

, the Dual Language (Spanish) Educator will:
- Deliver instruction in accordance with the assigned Dual Language model (OWI or TWI), including adherence to the district's language allocation plan
- Provide content-area instruction in Spanish and English aligned to district curriculum and Illinois learning standards
- Support the development of bilingualism, biliteracy, and academic language proficiency for all students
- Implement instructional practices aligned with research-based approaches in bilingual and Dual Language education
- Collaborate with Dual Language team members, ML staff, and general education colleagues to ensure program coherence and student support
- Monitor and document student progress in both languages, including academic growth and language development
- Communicate effectively with families in English and or Spanish regarding student progress, program expectations, and learning goals
- Support program compliance requirements related to bilingual and multilingual education, including documentation and family communication as required
- Participate in professional learning related to Dual Language instruction, bilingual education, and multilingual learner support
- Promote an inclusive learning environment that values linguistic and cultural diversity
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration, consistent with the scope of the role
PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to actively engage with students in a classroom environment for extended periods
- Ability to support instructional activities in a variety of classroom and school-based settings
