SUMMARY:
This position provides instruction to students and performs a wide variety of tasks with supervision, presenting and reinforcing learning concepts, and tutoring children in a one-on-one setting.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The school is located approximately 20 miles North of Jerseyville and South of Jacksonville, and 45 miles north of Alton and southwest of Springfield on Highway 67. The anticipated enrollment is 150 in grades 7-8 and 250 in grades 9-12. Salary is based on years of experience and education, partially paid health/life/dental insurance, district-paid portion of TRS, and opportunity for continuing education tuition reimbursement.
There are several extra-curricular coaching and sponsorship positions available as well. Detailed contract terms are available for viewing in the negotiated agreement on the district website - NGEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Following initial screening of applications submitted, top candidates will be selected for interviews with administration.
DUTIES:
1. Supervises students placed in In School Suspension and monitors them to make sure they
are following school rules.
2. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the
maturity and interests of the students.
3. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials,
and facilities.
4. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules.
5. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
6. Assists students with academic development by tutoring a variety of subjects and
providing help with assignments.
7. Gives help and is available to answer education-related questions to students and parents
during the school day.
8. Supervises students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, schoolyards, and gymnasiums, or on
field trips.
9. Distributes tests and homework assignments, and collects them when they are completed.
10. Enforces administration policies and rules governing students.
11. Meets with Attendance Secretary, Dean of Students, and Principal to discuss student
behavior.
12. Perform all other duties reasonably related to position as may be assigned by Building
Administrator or Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Teaching License or Substitute Teaching License as required by the State.
2. Must be familiar with the use of computers including but not limited to electronic mail,
the Internet, word processing, and electronic spreadsheets (Microsoft Office).
3. Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those
contacted in the course of work (students, parents, and staff).
4. Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
5. Ability to communicate to students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
SCHEDULING
The schedule is 8:00am to 3:30pm. This may be subject to change with district demands in compliance with the applicable.
