Chaddock is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the Principal of our special education school in Carthage, Illinois. This small, therapeutic school environment serves middle and high school students, with an enrollment of 15–20 students. The Principal is responsible for overseeing the trauma-informed special education program, supervising instructional staff, and ensuring high-quality educational services aligned with student needs and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities- Supervise, coach, and evaluate instructional staff
- Ensure compliance with IEPs, regulations, and accreditation standards
- Maintain a safe, structured, and positive school environment
- Collaborate with referring school districts and families
- Manage daily operations, including staffing and scheduling
- Monitor student progress and use data to inform decisions
- Ensure staff training compliance and uphold agency policies
- A strong, student-centered leader who is passionate about working in a trauma-informed special education environment.
- Experience supervising and developing staff, with the ability to coach, motivate, and hold others accountable.
- Deep understanding of special education practices, IEP processes, and regulatory compliance.
- Calm, confident decision-maker who can effectively manage behavioral challenges and crisis situations.
- Excellent communicator who builds positive relationships with staff, students, families, and community partners.
- Organized and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and daily school operations.
- Data-driven mindset, using student performance and program outcomes to guide improvements.
- Commitment to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive school culture.

- Administrative experience preferred, but not required
- Must hold Special Education Teacher (LBS I) licensure
- Must hold Principal or General Administrative endorsement
- Knowledge of IEP processes and regulatory requirements
- Effective decision-making and crisis management abilities
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities
