Position
Assistant Professor‑in‑Residence, College of Engineering (R0150463). The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for a teaching‑focused faculty appointment with no formal research requirement. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2026.
Role SummaryThe successful candidate will develop and deliver interdisciplinary, application‑oriented courses in the Entertainment Engineering and Design program, including additive manufacturing, mechanical fabrication, production systems, automation and control, mechatronics, and sustainable technology practices. In addition to instructional responsibilities, the role includes active engagement in curriculum development, program assessment, student mentorship, and service to the college and university.
Responsibilities- Teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering and entertainment‑related disciplines.
- Develop, assess, and refine curriculum and course content to align with industry needs and university mission.
- Mentor students and contribute to student success and intellectual development.
- Participate in departmental and university service activities.
- Engage in professional development to maintain expertise in entertainment, manufacturing, or applied engineering fields.
- Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in Engineering or a closely related field, awarded by an accredited institution.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
- Prior college‑level teaching experience and industry engagement in entertainment, manufacturing, or related applied engineering fields preferred.
- Commitment to teaching excellence and active learning.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success, mentoring, and undergraduate intellectual development.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver rigorous, interdisciplinary courses.
- Evidence of innovative instructional methods that promote active learning and critical thinking.
