Position Overview
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for an Associate Professor or Professor/Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs (Tenured or Tenure‑Track) within the School of Nursing. The appointment is either a faculty rank or a dual faculty‑academic leadership role focused on teaching, scholarship, and faculty development.
Key Responsibilities- Teach nursing courses consistent with area of expertise, collaborate with other faculty on course development, and use learning platforms such as Web Campus/Canvas to foster student learning.
- Provide student supervision, oversee faculty workload and teaching assignments, and ensure equitable distribution of duties.
- Engage in research and scholarship leading to publications in peer‑reviewed journals, and seek internal and external grant support.
- Lead and support faculty recruitment, orientation, evaluation, and off‑boarding processes, including hiring, orienting, and evaluating full‑time and part‑time faculty.
- Partner with faculty to establish professional goals, create mentorship and leadership opportunities, and guide career planning, promotion, and tenure pathways.
- Collaborate with the School leadership to develop faculty workload plans, space allocation, and budget management.
- Analyze and share course evaluation data each trimester to promote continuous program improvement and innovation.
- Represent the School at university, state, regional, and national levels, contributing to strategic planning that strengthens the faculty experience.
- Doctorate in Nursing from an accredited institution and a minimum of 3 years of post‑doctoral experience.
- Eligibility to hold a Nevada RN license.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in higher education, including faculty development, mentorship, evaluation, and workload management.
- A record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service, with evidence of effective collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- For tenure‑track: comprehensive research activity and record of scholarly achievement; for tenured: proven record of extensive scholarly achievement.
