Job Overview

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas is seeking an Assistant Dean of Graduate Student Services for its Graduate College. This senior administrative faculty position provides strategic leadership, policy authority, and oversight of graduate and professional student services, including adjudication, appeals, grievance processes, and high‑impact professional development initiatives. The role balances community‑building leadership with the responsibilities of chief adjudicator and policy authority for graduate student academic appeals and Graduate Assistant grievance processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of graduate and professional student services, including adjudication, appeals, and grievance processes.
  • Serve as chief adjudicator and policy authority for graduate student academic appeals and Graduate Assistant grievance processes.
  • Lead visible student engagement and community‑building initiatives and high‑impact professional development initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. from an accredited institution and 5–7 years of higher‑education leadership experience, including academic administration, graduate education, or student services in a complex institutional environment.
  • Experience interpreting academic policy and managing student appeals, adjudication, or grievance cases from intake through resolution.
  • Proficiency in applying and interpreting institutional, system‑level, and federal policies and regulations (e.g., FERPA, Title IX, FLSA).
  • Expertise in conflict resolution, mediation, and due process, especially in emotionally charged or legally sensitive situations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for making clear, defensible decisions and communications.
  • Commitment to fair and consistent policy application across diverse student populations.
