Job Description

UNLV invites applications for two 9‑month Assistant Professor‑in‑Residence positions in Organizational and Professional Communication, starting Fall 2026. The primary responsibilities of the role are development and instruction in undergraduate and graduate courses for traditional and online degree‑students. Candidates will primarily teach in the area of Organizational and Professional Communication, with experience or interest in workforce development/career readiness and experiential learning/community‑based learning practices.

Preference will be given to candidates with secondary expertise in Interpersonal/Family or Mediated Communication. Candidates with experience teaching interdisciplinary or college‑wide courses are desired, since two courses are required of all majors in the College of Urban Affairs. Service, including academic, professional, or community service participation, is a requirement.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Organizational and Professional Communication.
  • Participate in the design of five workforce‑readiness microcredentials at the undergraduate level.
  • Contribute to the redevelopment of the M.A. program as an entirely online professional‑oriented, practical, and workforce‑development graduate degree program.
  • Engage in academic, professional, and community service activities.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Communication or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience teaching courses in Organizational and Professional Communication.
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
