Part-time Faculty: EMT Academy Day Instructor Willoughby Eastlake & Lakeland Campus

WORK SCHEDULE:
This position primarily supports daytime EMT Academy courses for Willoughby/Eastlake Schools, with instructional hours typically from . Additional responsibilities may include instructional support at Lakeland Community College's main campus as needed.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
* The EMT Academy Day Instructor is responsible for providing both classroom and hands-on instruction to EMT students during scheduled daytime sessions. This role includes delivering lectures, facilitating lab skills, monitoring student performance, and ensuring all instruction aligns with program and accreditation standards. The instructor plays a key role in preparing students to perform confidently and competently in real-world emergency medical settings across both the Willoughby/Eastlake EMT Academy and Lakeland Community College.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instruction:
* Provide classroom and hands-on instruction in EMT content, including patient assessment, trauma management, airway management, and other core competencies, in coordination with the Mentor EMT Academy Lead Instructor and Lakeland EMTS Program Director/Dept Chair.
* Student Evaluation:
Observe, assess, and document student performance during both lecture and lab activities, providing constructive feedback to support competency development.
* Lab & Classroom Setup:
Assist in setting up equipment, simulations, and instructional materials; ensure all spaces remain clean, organized, and ready for use.
* Curriculum Adherence:
Deliver course content and skills instruction in alignment with established EMT curriculum, program expectations, and state/accreditation requirements.
* Student Support:
Provide additional assistance to students requiring remediation or skill reinforcement, fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment.
* Safety Compliance:
Ensure all instructional and lab activities follow appropriate safety standards and protocols.
* Program Support:
Provide instructional and operational support at Lakeland Community College's main campus as needed.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
* Expertise in EMS
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of EMT-level skills and practices, with the ability to effectively demonstrate and instruct students.
* Communication
Skills:
Excellent verbal communication skills to explain techniques and provide clear, supportive feedback to students.
* Organizational
Skills:
Ability to maintain an orderly lab space, with attention to detail in setting up and managing lab activities.
* Patience & Supportive Attitude: A positive and patient approach to working with students, promoting a collaborative and encouraging learning environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
* A minimum of five (5) years' experience as a paramedic in the State of Ohio.
* Current licensure in good standing as an EMS, Cardiac Technician, Paramedic, Registered Nurse, Physician's Assistant, or Physician.
* Current certification in BLS and ACLS from American Heart Association.
* Current state of Ohio Fire and Emergency Services Instructor certification
Preferred:
* An Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree in emergency health services or a related field. Demonstrated experience as a classroom instructor and/or lab instructor in an EMS/Paramedic educational training program.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:
* Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) to four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employee frequently lifts/carries objects that weigh 10 lbs. or less.
