Duties

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. In addition to the responsibilities and the duties of the classroom teacher (counselor, or media director), a Physical Education Teacher is responsible for the following:

* Develops lesson plans and organizes class time so that preparation, instruction, work, and clean-up activities can be accomplished within the allotted time.

* Guides pupils in selection of appropriate elective activities.

* Recommends purchase of and /or orders necessary equipment,supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.

* Oversees the safety and security conditions of the facility or area in which assigned activity is conducted at all times that students are present.

* Responsible for proper student conduct in all activities.

* Instructs students in safety procedures and in the safe use and care of equipment for each activity.

* Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property. Mike minor adjustments and requests repairs to equipment as required.

* Establishes and maintains standards of pupil conduct needed to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment in an activity-type classroom.

* All other reasonable duties as assigned by the Board of Education, Superintendent or Building Principal (s).

* Displays professional standards and promotes a positive school image with actions and words.

Qualifications

Valid Illinois Professional Educators License appropriate to the position

Such additional qualifications as the governing authorities may find

appropriate and acceptable

Salary/Benefits

Per the salary schedule outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CUSD#1 Board of Education and the South Scott Federation of Teachers, available at >district>contracts>teacher contract
