Adjunct Instructor - Residential & Commercial Electricity

Location: Centralia

Function:

To perform instructional and all related duties in the colleges Residential & Commercial Electrical department.

Organizational Relationship:

Adjunct faculty member reports to the Dean of Workforce Engagement and Industrial Careers, who reports to the Vice President of Instructional Services, who reports to the President.

Qualifications for the Position

Required:

* Associates Degree in Residential & Commercial Electricity or related field, and/or appropriate certification(s) and industry work experience in Electricity. Certifications may include Occupational Certificate, Completed Apprenticeship, national or state-issued license, or industry recognized credential in the field.

* Minimum of 2,000 hours non-teaching relevant work experience in Residential and/or Commercial Electricity or related field.

* Commitment to student-centered learning and the use of technology and innovation in the delivery of instruction through various modes of delivery such as face-to-face, online, hybrid, and/or blended formats.

* Excellent communication, organization, planning, and presentation skills.

* Ability to work independently as well as promote and foster a teamwork environment with entire college community.

* Commitment to community college philosophy.

* Willingness to work with industry partners to ensure industry standards are being met.

Preferred:

* Bachelors Degree in Residential & Commercial Electricity or related field.

* Previous Electrical teaching experience

* Experience in renewable energy sector

Essential Functions:

* Perform instructional duties as assigned for Residential & Commercial Electrical courses.

* Prepare or update syllabi as needed for all courses in which the faculty member has instructional responsibilities.

* Develop appropriate curriculum for subject area.

* Maintain a safe, clean and orderly environment conducive for learning.

* Maintain attendance and grade records and provide these records for review as requested.

* Perform assessment of student learning and participate in college wide assessment program.

* Report absences from assigned responsibilities promptly to the Academic Dean.

* Ensure access to students and college employees through timely communication.

* Remain abreast of current trends, technologies and information in subject area.

* Promote an educational environment that recognizes and values diversity, equity, and inclusion as integral components of academic excellence.

Other Functions:

* Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Controls:

Faculty member is expected to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision. Consultation as necessary is available with the Academic Dean.

Guidelines:

Faculty member is expected to follow all college policies and procedures as well as all local, state, and federal laws. Faculty member is expected to adhere to and foster development of Kaskaskia College core values of compassion, honesty, respect, responsibility and fairness.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Duties will be performed in an academic environment consistent with the program of study and needs of the student. Environment may be prone to frequent distractions and interruptions. Travel within the college district, as well as occasional overnight travel is required as necessary to perform the duties of the position and consistent with collective bargaining agreement.
