Job SummaryThe Instructional Coach supports teachers in improving instructional practices, curriculum delivery, and student learning outcomes. This position focuses on providing individualized coaching, facilitating professional development, analyzing student performance data, and promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. The Instructional Coach serves as a non-evaluative partner to teachers, helping to align classroom instruction with district initiatives, state standards, and research-based best practices to enhance teaching effectiveness and student achievement.
Education,Certification, and Licensure
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field (Master's Degree preferred).
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsements.
- Minimum 3–5 years of successful classroom teaching experience demonstrating effective instructional practices.
- Proven expertise in curriculum design
, differentiated instruction
, and standards-based teaching
. - Deep understanding of instructional frameworks

. - Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills

- Prior experience as an Instructional Coach

. - Proficiency with educational technology tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, assessment software, etc.).
- Ability to build trusting, collaborative relationships and maintain professional confidentiality.
- Collaborate with teachers to design, adapt, and refine lesson plans and curriculum materials aligned with Illinois Learning Standards.
- Support implementation of school-wide instructional initiatives
, including differentiated instruction and inclusive classroom practices.
- Provide one-on-one coaching to teachers through observation, feedback, modeling, and reflective dialogue.
- Facilitate professional development workshops and in-service training sessions based on school and district needs.
- Support teachers in establishing and achieving instructional goals through ongoing mentoring and support cycles.
- Model effective instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
- Promote the integration of social-emotional learning (SEL) and culturally responsive practices into instruction.
- Support new and veteran teachers in implementing district initiatives, technology, and innovative teaching practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret instructional data and identify solutions.
- Ability to motivate and inspire teachers toward improved instructional practice.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation abilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple coaching cycles.
- Deep knowledge of adolescent learning theory and best practices for junior high instruction.
- Culturally responsive mindset with the ability to work effectively with diverse student and staff populations.
