Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use recognized interpreting and/or transliteration skills to facilitate communication between deaf and hard‑of‑hearing student and others, including faculty, staff, administrators, other students, or visitors.
  • Interpret spoken material presented to students who is deaf and/or hard of hearing at the level of the student's understanding across settings and educational environments.
  • Assist special education student with daily routines that ensure student access to curriculum, including schoolwork, homework, test preparation, mobility, transition activities, and daily medical/safety needs.
  • Interpret spoken materials presented to student who is deaf and/or hard of hearing at the level of the student's understanding in all settings.
  • Work collaboratively with certified staff and administration.
  • Support teacher implementation of daily classroom programming including administrative support as requested.
Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications
  • College experience preferred.
  • Experience with high school and/or special needs students is beneficial but not required.
  • Knows ASL to assist the student in daily communication.
Job Functions
  • Assist student with academic support in a variety of academic and social settings.
  • Assist student during community based instruction as directed by certified staff.
  • Assist student will following daily schedules and routines.
  • Assist student with toileting and hygiene as necessary.
  • Assist student with mobility and transitions throughout the school setting.
  • Assist student to ensure medical safety.
  • Assist student with feeding as necessary.
  • Assist teacher with monitoring student IEP goals during structured and unstructured settings.
  • Assist student with remaining on tasks and completion of coursework.
  • Assist in the development of accommodations and/or modifications of work.
  • Support student use of technology.
  • Attend community based instruction trips with the student.
  • Provide safety needs for the student.
  • Engage in team meetings to assist the team in programing for the specific student.
  • Participate and engage in on‑site professional development.
  • Participate and assist in therapy sessions in collaboration with certified staff.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with a variety of professionals.
Salary & Benefit Information
  • Hourly pay range is $28-$32 per hour.
  • This is a 10‑month, Monday through Friday position, 7.5 hours per day.
