Full-Time, 12-Month Position Position Summary
The Assistant Principal at Beach Park Middle School is a dynamic instructional leader who collaborates with the principal to foster a positive learning environment, ensure student success, and support faculty and staff. This role involves overseeing student discipline, instructional leadership, staff development, and school operations while upholding the district’s mission and values.
Instructional Leadership- Assist in developing and implementing a rigorous and engaging curriculum aligned with Illinois Learning Standards.
- Support and evaluate teachers using research-based instructional strategies and assessment practices.
- Analyze student achievement data to drive instructional improvements and interventions.
- Promote a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement among students and staff.
- Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes student engagement and academic success.
- Implement and support Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and restorative discipline practices.
- Monitor student attendance, behavior trends, and social-emotional needs, providing interventions as needed.
- Maintain strong relationships with students, families, and community stakeholders.
- Support the recruitment, hiring, and retention of highly qualified staff members.
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
- Conduct evaluations in alignment with the Illinois Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA) requirements.
- Assist with developing and managing school schedules, activities, and safety procedures.
- Ensure compliance with district policies, state regulations, and federal education laws.
- Collaborate with the principal and district leadership to develop and oversee school budgets and resource allocations.
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a General Administrative or Principal Endorsement.
- Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a middle school setting.
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience in student discipline, teacher evaluation, and instructional leadership preferred.
- Strong understanding of Illinois education laws, PERA, MTSS, and special education compliance.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in a diverse school community and implementing culturally responsive practices.
- Knowledge of Restorative Practices, PBIS, and trauma-informed education.
- Proficiency in technology and data-driven decision-making to support instruction and operations.
- Spanish Speaking
- Ability to work in a school environment, including classroom and office settings.
- Frequent interaction with students, staff, and families.
- Some evening and weekend responsibilities for school events, meetings, and professional development.
