Job Summary
The Advisor 2 will provide academic advising to students enrolled in the Coastal Environmental Science degree program in the College of the Coast & Environment. The Advisor 2 will also serve as the first line of contact for high school students, parents, and guidance counselors requesting information about the program.
Responsibilities- 45% Provides advice on academic procedures and regulations including admission to senior college, registration, course scheduling, curriculum requirements, scholastic regulations, withdrawal/resignation policies, academic and grade appeals, major changes, and review of degree audit. Also attends A&A Deans meetings and coordinates with other campus units to maintain LSU regulations and care for student interests.
- 15% Counsels students, parents and university staff on admission process and admission decisions via phone, email and in person.
- 15% Maintains records of prospective students from recruiting activities as well as students processed through the admissions process. Maintains current student records and documents all appeals.
- 15% Participates in and assists with planning freshman and transfer student recruiting programs such as Academic Showcase, Debut LSU, Kick‑off LSU, Tiger Transfer Day and LSU on the Geaux.
- 10% Other responsibilities as assigned by the Dean, Associate Dean, Assistant Dean, and Director of Undergraduate Programs. Works closely with, providing back‑up if necessary, with the ENVS Graduate Coordinator, DES Assistant to the Chair and CC&E administrators and administrative staff to ensure efficient work‑flow, document tracking and business functions. Performs other duties as needed for the efficient functioning of the academic and CC&E programs.
Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of experience. LSU values skills, experience, and expertise.
