The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for the Academic Eligibility Specialist in Student-Athlete Academic Services. The role supports student‑athletes to meet academic, athletic, and personal goals while ensuring compliance with institutional, MWC, and NCAA regulations regarding eligibility for practice, competition, and financial aid.
Responsibilities- Proactively monitor student‑athletes’ academic progress and provide timely reports to supervisors, compliance staff, and coaches.
- Ensure the timely certification of designated sports teams.
- Assist student‑athletes during recruitment, providing academic support from admission through graduation.
- Assign student‑athlete cohorts as directed by the Senior Associate Athletics Director.
- Attend evening and weekend work requests and occasional travel with teams.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Degree in an area related to Student‑Athlete Academic Services (Education, Sports Management, Counseling, or related field).
- 1–3 years part- or full‑time experience in intercollegiate Student‑Athlete Academic Services or comparable higher education advising.
- Credentials obtained prior to employment start date.
- Experience at a Division‑I NCAA institution.
- Knowledge of UNLV and MWC policies and procedures.
- Experience with academic support services for student athletes.
- Strong communication, computer, decision‑making, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills.
