Position Overview
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Architecture is inviting applications for an Assistant Professor‑in‑Residence in Professional Practice and Community Engagement in Architecture. This non‑tenure‑track, full‑time appointment focuses on strengthening instructional and outreach capacity in alignment with NAAB accreditation criteria.
Responsibilities- Deliver professionally grounded coursework in architectural practice, including project delivery, ethics, and practice operations.
- Provide mentorship to students pursuing internships, licensure pathways (AXP/ARE), and career placement.
- Lead or contribute to community‑engaged design studios and initiatives in partnership with local organizations, public agencies, and nonprofit stakeholders.
- Cultivate and sustain industry and community partnerships to expand experiential learning opportunities and workforce development pipelines.
- Document professional practice and engagement activities for NAAB accreditation and assessment efforts.
- Participate in applied research and school‑wide initiatives that connect students to practice‑based and community‑centered work.
- Terminal degree in Architecture from a professionally accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and/or CHEA.
- Professional licensure in architecture.
- Demonstrated professional experience in architectural practice.
- Evidence of engagement in community‑based, public‑interest, or applied design work.
- Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor students in a professional‑practice context.
- Prior teaching experience in an accredited architecture program.
- Success in developing industry and/or community partnerships.
- Experience with community design practice.
- Familiarity with NAAB accreditation standards and processes.
