Elementary Music Teacher
St. Thomas Catholic School is seeking a faithful, enthusiastic, and dedicated part-time Elementary Music Teacher to nurture a love of music in students through engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, strong classroom management skills, and a passion for music and Catholic education to our PreK-5th grade students. Applicants must support the mission and vision of St. Thomas Catholic School and be committed to fostering a Christ-centered learning environment.
What You Will Do:
- Integrate the Catholic faith and values into music instruction and performance selections
- Plan and implement engaging music lessons aligned with both academic and liturgical goals
- Teach general music classes to elementary students (PreK-5th) that include singing, rhythm, movement, and basic music theory
- Introduce students to a variety of musical styles and genres while fostering creativity and musical growth
- Help prepare students for the Christmas program and end of year Fun Day worship
- Foster a positive, faith-filled classroom environment rooted in respect, joy, and creativity
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and administration to support student learning and school-wide events
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families
- Maintain a structured, organized, and welcoming classroom space
Schedule and Position Details:
- Part-Time Elementary Music Teacher
- Hours:
Between 2-4 hours a day (flexible schedule) - Duration:
For the school year
What You Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related, relevant field
- Experience teaching music in a school, church, or private setting
- Demonstrated ability to lead music classes and student performances
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Familiarity with liturgical music and Catholic Mass planning
- Ability to play piano or another accompaniment instrument
- Experience working with elementary students across various age groups
- Strong classroom management and lesson planning skills
What You Will Get:
- Salary per hour: $19.00
- Paid Time Off:
One hour for every 40 hours worked - Opportunity to participate in the Catholic Diocese of Peoria retirement program
