Junior High Science Teacher

Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School is seeking a qualified Junior High Science Teacher to join our team for the  school year. The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging, standards-based science instruction that supports the academic and developmental needs of junior high students. Instruction should promote critical thinking, inquiry, and student achievement. Teaching assignments may include a combination of life, physical, and/or earth science content appropriate for the junior high level.

Responsibilities include planning and implementing instruction aligned to Illinois Learning Standards for science, developing engaging, inquiry-based lessons that promote scientific thinking and problem-solving, differentiating instruction to meet diverse student learning needs, monitoring student progress and using assessment data to guide instruction, maintaining a structured, safe, and supportive classroom environment, collaborating with grade-level teams, support staff, and administration, communicating effectively with students, families, and colleagues, and maintaining accurate student records and documentation.

Support district and building initiatives.

Qualifications include a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate middle grades science endorsement, strong knowledge of junior high science curriculum and instructional practices, demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff, and strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
