Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Elementary and/or Secondary
• Substitute License registered through McHenry County Regional Office of Education.
• Self-motivated and adept at problem solving and critical thinking
• Successfully completes required criminal history check, physical, drug screen and proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status.

Reports To:

Building Principal(s)

Job Goal:
Through job assignments, serve as the instructional lead of students in the absence of the regular teacher.

Professional Responsibilities:

• Reports to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school to receive assignment and special instructions
• Review all plans and schedules to be followed during the teacher day
• Review special needs of students and emergency procedures
• Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school the classroom to which he/she is assigned
• Teacher students using the lesson plans as outlined and described by the absent teacher
• Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practices dictate
• Returns the classroom to an orderly condition at the conclusion of the day, placing papers collected on the teacher's desk
• Maintains confidentiality of all school-related matters
• Performs all other duties as dictated by law and/or by a supervisor or administrator

Terms of Employment:
Work year is an as needed basis for assignments. Compensation is a daily rate based on the rates established by the Board of Education.

Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be completed by the building principal(s) on an annual basis.
