A. Logan College is seeking a full‑time, tenure‑track Medical Assistant Instructor to join our Health Sciences division. This faculty member will play a key role in preparing future medical assistants through high‑quality instruction, hands‑on learning, and meaningful engagement with students, colleagues, and community partners.
The Medical Assistant Instructor provides classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical instruction in medical assisting courses. The role includes developing and maintaining course materials, assessing student learning, supervising internships, and supporting program accreditation and continuous improvement. This faculty member contributes to the College’s mission through teaching, service, and professional development.
Education & Experience RequirementsEducation required
- Associate degree in a healthcare‑related field
Experience required
- Minimum of three (3) years fulltime professional experience working in a medical office. The experience must included both front office administrative skills as well as clinical skills.
- Training in HIPAA and OSHA standards
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in oral and written formats appropriate for instruction, student interaction, and professional collaboration.
- Demonstrated proficiency with instructional and educational technologies sufficient to support course delivery and communication.
- Provide instruction at scheduled class, laboratory, simulation, and clinical times as assigned.
- Teach a minimum of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester during fall and spring semesters.
- Maintain and post eight (8) office hours per week for student consultation, adjusted as permitted by the CBA.
- Develop, maintain, and deliver course syllabi aligned with master syllabi and program outcomes.
- Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate academic records using the College’s learning management system.
- Comply with clinical site requirements, safety standards, and regulatory expectations.
- Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the scope of a tenure‑track faculty role.
- Knowledge of medical assisting theory, clinical practice, evidence‑based care, safety standards, regulatory requirements and accreditation expectations
- Skill in planning and delivering effective instruction and assessing student learning
- Ability to adapt instruction to a variety of students and collaborate with faculty and administration
- Work is performed in a variety of instructional settings, including classrooms, laboratories, simulation environments (if applicable), and office spaces, as well as in community or field‑based locations associated with internships or experiential learning.
- Duties may require lifting or carrying instructional materials or equipment of moderate weight.
- Work may involve evening, weekend, or alternative scheduling, and may include variability in workload based on instructional and institutional demands.
