Job DescriptionPurpose: This teacher is responsible for developing and implementing a High School Culinary Arts and Consumer Science program for all students in grades 9-12. Course offerings include Culinary Arts I & II, and Advanced Culinary Arts.
Qualifications:
- A valid and current Illinois State PEL in High School or eligibility.
- Demonstrated success and understanding of Family.
- Able to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively.
Reports to: Building Administration
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop and/or review curriculum mapping, pacing guides, and lesson/unit plans to guide courses in Culinary Arts I & II, and Advanced Culinary Arts.
- Deliver instruction in a food lab and classroom for Culinary Arts and other courses as deemed appropriate.
- Attend professional development and training related to Consumer Science and Culinary programs and methodologies, staying abreast of current research.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning.
- Use technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
- Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
- Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
- Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offer plans for improvement.
- Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
- Organize, develop, and coordinate special culinary events/activities.
- Keep accurate records and deliver timely reports as required.
- Participate in student team meetings as needed. Participate in collaborative teacher/staff meetings as required.
- Maintain curricular and supplementary material inventories and make purchasing requests in a timely manner to ensure necessary supplies are available for student projects.
- Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating, etc.
- All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning.
- Follow the District’s job description for teachers.
- Perform other duties and take on responsibilities as assigned by district and/or building administration.
Terms of Employment: As determined by the MEA Collective Bargaining Agreement
Salary Range: $42, commensurate with experience
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $42,020 to $84,739 Per Year
