The officer shall be a member of the staff of the Kulliyyah/Centre/Department to which he is assigned by the IIUM and shall perform teaching, examining, and research duties and such other obligations normally required of an academic staff member of the IIUM. The officer should also undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to colleagues and students. The officer shall attend meetings of IIUM authorities, boards, and committees to which he, as an academic staff member, may be appointed as a member.
The officer is also expected to participate in the general life of the IIUM community and advise and guide students in character, behaviour, and moral conduct.
- Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.
- Developing curricula and course material that can be used across multiple platforms.
- Collaborating with other academics and lecturers to improve teaching methods and expand knowledge base.
- Setting and grading assignments, tests, exams, and other assessments (formative and summative) for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
- Attending and participating in workshops, events and trainings organized by the Kulliyyah.
- Conducting research and writing papers, proposals, journal articles, and books.
- Participating in training opportunities and initiatives at the institution and outside.
- Providing support to students and colleagues.
- Staying current by reading widely and producing published work in the field.
- A PhD in the relevant discipline.
- Published work is advantageous.
- Ability to inspire students with passion.
- Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to work long hours.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written/verbal communication skills.
- Excellent English language skills.
- Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent qualification recognised by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).
- IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band
4. Candidates without any of these qualifications will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
