High-level responsibilities include:

• Demonstrate support for the mission, beliefs, and goals of MSD
  114
• Plan and implement daily physical education lessons for students in grades K8
• Teach fundamental motor skills, fitness concepts, team and individual sports, and health-related physical activity
• Promote inclusion, cooperation, and positive sportsmanship among all students
• Develop and implement assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
• Establish and maintain clear expectations for student behavior in alignment with district policies and positive classroom culture
• Collaborate with team members, support staff, and administration to support student learning
• Ensure a safe learning environment by maintaining proper use and storage of equipment and monitoring student behavior
• Organize and participate in school-wide events that promote physical activity
• Communicate regularly with families about student progress and promote healthy habits
• Reflect on teaching for the purpose of growth and improvement
• Demonstrate professionalism in behavior and dress
• Report to work regularly with infrequent absences

Qualifications include:

• Bachelor's degree with a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a physical education endorsement
• Knowledge of best practices in physical education, youth development, and inclusive instruction
• Ability to motivate and inspire students to engage in physical activity and make healthy choices
• CPR/AED certification preferred
• Physical demands include active movement, lifting equipment, and prolonged periods of standing
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Classroom management and organizational ability
• Ability to work successfully with diverse populations
• Positive attitude and excellent work ethic
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• High level of professionalism and ethics
