CPR Instructor
The CPR Instructor provides instruction for First Aid, CPR, and/or Healthcare Provider courses offered through Shawnee Community College, including on-campus and off-campus learning locations.
Essential Duties or ResponsibilitiesThe essential duties and primary responsibilities below are intended to describe the general requirements of this job and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.
- Serve as an American Heart Association Instructor and perform all associated duties as prescribed within the American Heart Association Program Administration Manual and Shawnee Community College procedures.
- Provide training for First Aid/CPR and HCP classes arranged by the college for the employees of the designated agencies, facilities, businesses, and/or individuals requesting training.
- Ensure all equipment is in working order and order replacements as needed.
- Ensure required paperwork for courses of instruction is completed accurately, promptly, and submitted for issuance of course completion cards
- Demonstrate proper techniques for adult, child, and infant CPR, as well as the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
- Recertify as required, typically every two years, to ensure compliance with AHA standards.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor status.
- Strong knowledge of AHA guidelines and protocols.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to various learning styles.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
