Job Title

Holy Family Catholic Academy (HFCA), a nationally recognized IB World School, is seeking a creative and nurturing educator for our 3-year-old classroom.

Job Description

This role is designed for a teacher who thrives in a collaborative, faith-based environment and is passionate about guiding young children through their first formative "discoveries" in a full-day setting.

Role Overview

Schedule:

Part-Time, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (8:15 AM – 3:45 PM). Target Age: 3-year-old classroom

Reports to:

Principal Primary Function. The Classroom Teacher for the 3-year-old program is responsible for facilitating a classroom environment that encourages inquiry, independence, and social-emotional growth. Following the IB Primary Years Program (PYP) framework, the teacher will lead students through a full day of balanced academic exploration, play-based learning, and spiritual development. This is for the 2026 - 2027 school year.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership:
Plan and execute inquiry-based lessons that align with IB standards, specifically tailored for the developmental milestones of 3-year-olds. Full-Day Management:
Supervise the complete daily rhythm, including morning inquiry, snack, outdoor play, lunch, and rest time. Spiritual Guidance:
Integrate Catholic values and the "Know God" mission into daily interactions and age-appropriate prayer. Documentation & Assessment:
Observe and document student development to share insights with parents and the early childhood team. Collaborative Partnership:
Work seamlessly with co-teachers and specialty staff to ensure a consistent, nurturing experience for every child.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

Bachelor's or Master's Degree (Preferred). Certification:
Valid Professional Educators License (PEL) with Early Childhood Endorsement.

Experience:

Previous experience in a preschool or licensed childcare setting is highly valued.

Skills:

Ability to pivot between high-energy instruction and calm, nurturing care (especially during transition times). Physical:
Ability to stand/walk for long periods, engage with children on their level (floor play), and lift up to 30 lbs. Personal & Professional Qualities A "curiosity-first" mindset that models the IB Learner Profile. Strong communication skills for building "bridge" relationships between school and home. A commitment to the Academy's mission to think, lead, and care in service of a better world.

General Responsibilities

As a professional educator in a Catholic school, the Teacher will:

  • teach and act in accordance with Catholic doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church
  • act as a role model for the religious formation of students and as a representative of the Archbishop of Chicago and the Catholic Church in the performance of the Church's ministry
  • know, teach and act consistently in accordance with the religious and educational mission, philosophy, objectives and policies and procedures of the Catholic school
  • complete Catholic identity formation training and other required professional development from the Archdiocese of Chicago (regardless of grade/subject area or personal faith tradition)
  • lead and/or participate in any and all religious instruction, ceremonies, rituals or other religious activities as directed by the principal
  • communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues and principal
  • participate in any and all professional development programs required by the Archdiocese of Chicago and/or the local school/parish
  • perform teaching duties as assigned by the principal
  • attend required faculty and staff meetings
  • cooperate with the principal and staff members in school related meetings, activities and projects
  • maintain accurate student attendance and academic records
  • maintain a safe, orderly and secure learning and working environment
  • participate in the annual performance review
  • maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students and general school matters
  • positively represent the school/parish at all school/parish events (including extracurricular activities) and in the general public
  • the principal assigns specific tasks essential to the function of the position
Requirements and Preferences
  • Practicing Catholic (preferred, required for religion teachers)
  • Must meet compliance with safe environment requirements
  • Must hold Bachelor's degree
  • Must have valid state licensure for the grade/subject area (preferred, not required)
  • Must complete Catholic identity formation training
