Job DescriptionIroquois West High School seeks a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our high school community. We are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students, and we believe our special education program is an essential part of that mission.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) with the IEP team.
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction aligned with state standards and curriculum frameworks.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to enhance student learning.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and parents to ensure a smooth and successful learning experience for all students.
- Monitor student progress and make data-driven decisions to adjust instruction as needed.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education.
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive school climate.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid PEL with LBS1 Endorsement or working towards.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in a high school setting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of IDEA and other relevant special education laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Proficiency in using technology to support instruction and assessment.
