The University of Virginia (UVA) Department of Public Health Sciences (PHS) is seeking applicants for a tenured or tenure-eligible faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of Biostatistics
. The candidate will develop and lead a multidisciplinary research program along with contributing to team science collaboration in support of the department’s mission. The successful candidate will preferably conduct research and education in clinical trials and/or clinical biostatistics
. The successful applicant must be motivated, independent and highly organized, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Finally, the successful applicant will have teaching and service responsibilities, and is expected to participate in appropriate national and international organizations. Rank and tenure status will be determined by qualifications.

PHS offers a vibrant academic home with access to rich datasets and support services for research. The department provides comprehensive and multi-disciplinary scientific and analytical services to the University of Virginia School of Medicine through its Divisions of Biostatistics & Health Data Science;
Health Evaluation & Outcomes Science; and Health Intervention & Implementation Science. The Department offers two master degrees, an MS in Clinical Research and an MPH. Successful candidates will contribute to the design and implementation of the graduate education curriculum; teach intermediate and advanced graduate level methods courses, conduct research, and advance scholarship in their area of expertise. Qualifiations

Minimum Requirements
  • Education:

    Ph.D., or other doctoral degree, in biostatistics, statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Collaborative biomedical/clinical research experience
  • A record of peer-reviewed publications in statistical methods and collaborative research, commensurate with rank
  • Proven track record of, or potential for, extramural funding
Preferred Requirements
  • Expertise in the design and analysis of clinical trials
  • Experience in adaptive clinical trial design
  • A strong record of peer-reviewed publications in both statistical methods and collaborative research, commensurate with rank
  • Active extramural funding from NIH or similar funding agencies
  • Teaching experience at the graduate level
