Position Title

Assistant/Associate/Full Professor and Program Director of Medical Physics

Position Overview

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) seeks a qualified medical physicist to serve as Program Director for the Department of Health Physics and Diagnostic Sciences’ CAMPEP‑accredited therapeutic medical physics programs (masters, certificate, PhD, and doctor of medical physics).

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance for all medical physics programs.
  • Serve as the point of contact for communications between UNLV and CAMPEP.
  • Act as an advisor/mentor to medical physics students.
  • Participate in clinical site visits and exams to evaluate clinical competency of students.
  • Participate in department seminars (e.g., giving presentations on clinical physics and job opportunities).
  • Participate in curriculum review.
  • Establish and lead an active research program supported by extramural funding.
  • Teach in the department’s medical physics programs.
  • Perform service duties in accordance with university criteria.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD or other doctoral degree in medical physics or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Certification in therapeutic medical physics by the American Board of Radiology, Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine, or another appropriate certifying agency.
  • At least five years of full‑time post‑graduate experience in the field.
  • Faculty rank will be based on educational credentials, experience, and scholarly achievement; tenure‑track and tenured positions will require comprehensive research activity and extensive scholarly achievement.
