Assistant Professor-in-Residence / Undergraduate and Internship Coordinator / Assessment Chair, Communication Studies

Position: 12‑month appointment starting Fall 2026. The incumbent will develop and instruct undergraduate and graduate courses, oversee curriculum and assessment, coordinate internships, and chair department assessment activities.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses (4/4 course load, 12 credit hours per semester).
  • Oversee undergraduate curriculum management and assessment as Undergraduate Coordinator.
  • Serve as the principal contact for students and businesses seeking internships.
  • Lead undergraduate degree program assessments and evaluations, collecting data from students, faculty, and industry partners.
  • Support development of five workforce‑readiness microcredentials tied to communication skill development.
  • Redevelop the M.A. program into an entirely online and professional‑oriented curriculum.
  • Participate in faculty service and departmental initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Communication or related field from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • 1‑3 years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level, preferably in Instructional Communication, Assessment, Learning, workforce development, or experiential/community‑based learning.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and program assessment.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.
  • Secondary expertise in Interpersonal/Family or Mediated Communication is desired.
