Reports To:

Program Director/School Principal

Classification:
Full-Time, Exempt/Non-Exempt (Dependent on Agency Policy)

JOB SUMMARY

The Parent Coordinator serves as a critical bridge between home, school, and the community for early childhood classrooms funded by the Preschool for All Expansion (PSAE) state grants. The primary focus of this role is to foster collaborative, trusting relationships with families, cultivate a welcoming school climate, and facilitate meaningful parent engagement that directly supports children's foundational development and learning readiness.

CORE

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Family Outreach & Recruitment:
Coordinate and execute student recruitment, enrollment intake, and family screening process in adherence to grant eligibility criteria. Maintain detailed family demographic and compliance folders.

Parent Education & Empowerment:
Plan, organize, and facilitate evidence-based workshops, training seminars, and family growth programs. Schedule events dynamically across morning and evening hours to optimize parent participation.

Home-School Visitation:
Conduct structured, documented home visits to establish baseline family needs, provide targeted educational materials, and reinforce home learning strategies aligned with the classroom curriculum.

Community Resource Coordination:
Act as the primary liaison to external healthcare providers, social services, and community agencies. Perform family needs assessments and coordinate direct referrals for necessary external support.

Program Governance & Advisory Support:
Mobilize and advise the Parent Committee or Advisory Council. Empower parents to assume active leadership roles in program evaluation, governance, and state-level feedback loops.

Grant Compliance & Data Documentation:
Meticulously track, log, and report family engagement data, event attendance, and home visit evaluations. Ensure all operations completely align with state performance standards for PSA/PSAE grants.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Human Services, Family Studies, or a closely related field preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of professional experience working with families and young children in community outreach, public education, or social service settings.

Language Proficiency:
Bilingual proficiency in written and spoken Spanish is highly recommended to effectively communicate with and support Spanish-speaking families within our community demographics.

Knowledge Base:
Deep familiarity with early childhood development milestones, equity-driven family engagement frameworks, and local community assistance networks.

Technical

Skills:

Competency in data entry platforms, digital spreadsheets, and collaboration tools required to handle state grant compliance tracking and reporting requirements.

Working Conditions:

Must possess a valid driver's license, reliable transportation for regular home visits, and flexibility to work variable schedules for occasional evening parent events.
