Description: Mahomet-Seymour Junior High is accepting applications for a COMPASS Paraprofessional for the school year. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers, related service providers, and administrators to provide academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional support in a structured learning environment that promotes student growth, independence, and success.
Responsibilities- Support the implementation of individualized instructional and behavioural plans under the direction of certified staff.
- Provide one-on-one and small-group academic and behavioural support.
- Reinforce social-emotional and independent living skills throughout the school day.
- Assist with behaviour intervention strategies and de-escalation techniques as directed.
- Support students during classroom instruction, transitions, lunch, electives, community-based activities, and other school routines.
- Collect and document student progress and behavioural data as requested.
- Prepare instructional materials and assist in maintaining a structured, safe, and organised learning environment.
- Must have an Illinois ELS Paraprofessional Educator Endorsement or the Short-Term Approval for the Paraprofessional or the ability to obtain one of these licence options prior to employment.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning, behavioural, and communication needs is preferred.
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to assist students with academic, behavioural, and personal care needs as assigned.
- Must be able to pass a physical abilities test prior to starting employment.

NOTE: Our existing 4-year collective bargaining agreement expired at the end of the school year and we are currently negotiating a new agreement that will begin with the school year.
