Position Summary

We are seeking a Wind Turbine Technician local to the Green River, IL wind turbine site to join our dynamic team. Qualified candidates will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of multiple brands of services, including troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical components on wind farm sites.

Essential Job Functions

  • Carry out duties with a primary focus on safety and quality.
  • Understand both the metric and imperial measurement systems.
  • Accurately complete timecards with detailed descriptions of work performed and related expense reports for reimbursements.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Apply principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to design and production of various goods and services.
  • Problem-solve issues as they arise.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, machines, wiring or computer programs issues.
  • Understand direct current electricity, alternating current electricity, and electronics.
  • Write reports, complete work orders, track progress on tasks, and document findings.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and fellow employees.
  • Lead teams, train new employees, and complete reports when needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Electrical or mechanical experience of at least four years.
  • If entry-level, provide proof of Wind Technician Certification from an accredited Wind Academy or equivalent Trade School.
  • Possess excellent electrical and mechanical skills.
  • Knowledge of turbine-related machinery and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for protection of people, property, and institutions.
  • Willing to learn and progress into a stronger role, such as troubleshooting, commissioning or serving as lead technician on site.
  • Experience with turbine technology and/or being up-tower on platforms is welcome, including Solar/Off-shore experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Capable of lifting 40-100 lbs.
  • Capable of bending, twisting, and lifting items overhead.
  • Capable of climbing a wind turbine tower up to 400 ft in height up to three times daily.

Additional Information
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, work instructions, manuals.
  • Fluent English verbal and written communications skills are required.
  • Must have current valid driver’s license and a fit-to-drive record with no more than two moving violations in the past three years, including a clear Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check (project/client dependent).
  • Able to travel up to 90% of the time.
