Control Room Operator
Wood is recruiting for a Control Room operator to join its Iraq business unit focusing on real-time monitoring of the solar plant performance.
This role is a full-time on-site role in Basra, Iraq with travel requirement.
ResponsibilitiesReal-time monitoring of the solar plant performance via SCADA and other control systems such as the inverter smart IV curve monitoring.
Check and respond to system alarms, warnings and faults.
Identify trends or anomalies in performance data.
Diagnose issues remotely and escalate to field teams if needed.
Responsible for log incidents and operations and maintenance activities reporting
Prepare daily, weekly and monthly performance reports.
Ensure compliance of the plant with the Grid Operator regulations.
Suggest operational improvements or predictive maintenance actions.
QualificationsExpected:
- 3 years' experience in Control Room Operations (solar or other power/utility plants).
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation/Power Engineering.
- Training in SCADA operations, solar PV fundamentals, and basic electrical safety/LOTO.
- Ability to interpret alarms, SCADA data, and grid-related signals.
- Experience monitoring real-time performance, logging incidents, and analyzing alarms.
- Strong reporting skills (daily/weekly/monthly energy generation, incidents, alarms).
Preferred:
- Experience in solar plants or power utility sites
- Familiarity with CMMS and advanced Excel/data analytics.
