Pay Rate: $68.09/hr Primary Purpose Of Position

• Create, obtain, and maintain NRC license for operation of the facility.
• Assigned on a rotating shift basis, act under prescribed rules and approved practices to observe, inspect, operate station equipment, prepare equipment for service and maintenance, test equipment, take necessary action in emergencies, and perform related work as assigned.
• Specifically tied to NRC regulations: control of reactivity systems that affect power levels of the plant.
• Monitor gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure equipment/system functioning; control operations remotely from the main control room center.
• Apply critical thinking, use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, and provide conclusions.
• Assist Senior Reactor Operators in finding and evaluating information to determine compliance with required standards.
• Use relevant information and judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, and standards, and provide information to required parties.
• Gather information from all relevant sources, identify objects/actions/events, categorize, estimate, recognize differences or similarities, and detect changes.
• Monitor processes, materials, or surroundings to detect and assess problems.
• Document/record information in written or electronic form.

• Observe, inspect, and operate auxiliary station equipment such as pumps, fans, air compressors, and heat exchangers.
• Inspect and adjust gland seal pressures on turbine generator units.
• Make routine checks of equipment related to water and steam transfer.
• Inspect and reset relays in auxiliary power centers when automatic trip-out occurs.
• Operate auxiliary equipment manually when remote control is not available or during abnormal conditions.
• Assist in troubleshooting work on control circuits, auxiliary switches, tripping devices, and level controllers.
• Perform manual switching in auxiliary power centers during routine maintenance or emergency repairs.
• Check operation of feed water heaters and other secondary plant equipment such as heating, ventilation, and cooling systems.
• Inspect power transformers, switch gear, and batteries; record specific gravity readings and charge batteries as required.
• Operate the water treatment system: adjust feed, prepare chemicals, check storage tanks, adjust flows, record chemicals used, take meter readings, and perform field checks on water samples.
• Operate oil cleaning and transfer equipment; check reservoir levels; back‑flush oil coolers; take oil samples.
• Inspect brushes on generator field rings; check exciter bearings.
• Replace gas cylinders (e.g., hydrogen, nitrogen) on headers; check the operation of the hydrogen unit gas dryer.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and working area.
• Assist in controlling reactor–turbine operation by executing orders, observing instruments, and reading meters.
• Operate reactor, turbine, and other station equipment outside the control room (starting, stopping, and preparing equipment for maintenance).
• Operate disconnects, circuit breakers, and grounding buses; take circuits and equipment in and out of service.
• Instruct, train, and coordinate the work of others.
• Other assigned duties may include field activities outside the main control room.

• Candidates must possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Candidates with a college degree must provide transcripts.
• Candidates with applicable military experience (e.g., Navy Nuclear) must provide DD214 (long form) and training history.
