Implementations Network Engineer II
* Location:
Scott Air Force Base, IL
* Clearance: US Citizen with DoD Secret
* Work Schedule:
100% Onsite.
* Certification:
Security+ CE required The Implementations Network Engineer will perform installation oversight, configuration, testing, monitoring, servicing of network equipment and activation of networks for projects supporting the Department of Defense networks.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for performing and training team on the following duties:
* Perform customer coordination, Initial Test and Acceptance (IT&A), execution of all reporting functions, and complete data input associated with new service activations to ensure they are implemented in accordance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) standards.
* Work directly with customers, solution architects and vendor SMEs to implement changes and also identify, analyze, and resolve issues.
* Manage Service Orders, in accordance with Change Management procedures
* Ensure Telecommunication Service Orders (TSOs) are in place and accurate for scheduled network additions and changes
* Initiate network device configurations using configlets
* Analyze DISN and databases to validate and implement customer requirements
* Design and implementation of solutions to highly technical problems through testing, documentation and modification of configurations on network devices
* Coordinate and program customer circuit activation with commercial vendors to establish the engineered solution for end-to-end connectivity
* Perform network monitoring to assess if deployed changes have caused impacts to customer traffic using provided expectations of traffic behavior, lessons learned, and customer reporting
* Utilize systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional requirements in support of customer resources.
* Engage with the DISA project managers and/or customers to resolve issues with incomplete or unclear requirements.
* Reach out to stakeholders and facilitate approvals as necessary to ensure continual forward progress of the service request.
Basic Qualifications:
* Requires BS and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience.
* An active Secret security clearance is required.
* DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).
* Proficient knowledge of various network hardware equipment specifications, configuration and testing processes, and industry specifications.
* Network engineering, problem management, and performance management experience.
* Knowledge of networking architecture, evaluating, and recommending new technologies to enhance current capabilities and performing needs assessments.
* Knowledge of data and voice network design carried over various transmissions systems, router to router connections using military and commercial protocols such as BGP and ISIS, switch-to-switch trunking to include VLANS, and circuit configurations through multiplexers.
* Experience with network services (BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN, VPN, VLAN, VRF, etc.) and network appliances (e.g., routers, load balancers, domain name servers, firewalls).
* Knowledge of configuring, activating, testing, and analyzing network systems.
* Ability to work in a team environment, but self-driven to complete assignments while continually developing proficiencies in processes.
* Strong written and verbal communications, team building and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Prior experience at DISA, or knowledge of DISA systems and processes
* Prior experience with SharePoint data entry, DDOE, or SharePoint order processing.
* Order services on behalf of the customer; input service requests into DISA Storefront (DSF)
* Experience providing customer outreach on all orders to ensure accuracy of the POC, location, and interface Required
