Job DescriptionElectronic component validation engineer serves in a full-time, in-office capacity in this role. Below are the key roles and deliverables of this position within Client Legacy electronics systems engineering:
- Lead electronic component systems validation efforts under legacy engineering team.
- Visit electronic hardware supplier locations and perform technical reviews.
- Participate in NPI review meetings and provide validation coverage and test results to stakeholders
- Reach out to various labs (inhouse and outside) and participate in EMC, vibration and other hardware related testing
- Data mining and analytics
- Prepare presentations and reports on component level testing with detailed technical analysis.
- Understand various software validation tools (ex: CANape) and hardware devices (ex: Tektronix Scope, multimeters, dSPACE, BUS Managers)
- Design ECM harnesses and define harness routing in machines and engines to support aftermarket kits.
- Collaborate with other systems teams in requirements, update guidelines and standards and validation
- Capable of performing back-to-back component level validation with older and newer parts. Capture automation opportunities to validate components using scripts.
- Design and integrate advanced electronic systems leveraging state-of-the-art technologies to replace obsolete components, thereby reducing lifecycle costs and enhancing system reliability.
- As a project leader, collaborate with low-volume electronic suppliers and manage the transfer of legacy electronic components, ensuring adherence to Client’s quality standards and maintain on-time delivery
- Collaborate with machine and engine system teams on identifying high risk parts and defining removal plans. Establish system sustainment plans and obsolescence proposals and review with product groups.
- Knowledge of Client electronic control modules, telematics solutions and display hardware.

This role is not just executing tests—it’s owning the end-to-end component validation for legacy electronics and making sure the organization can keep products reliable even as parts age out or suppliers change. The role calls for leading validation under the legacy team, coordinating with in-house and external labs for EMC, vibration, and other hardware testing, and representing validation results in NPI review meetings so stakeholders can make confident release decisions.
The role focuses on back-to-back validation of older vs. newer parts, following guidelines/standards along with other teams, and capturing automation opportunities using scripts matches how Legacy team like to drive continuous improvement, reduce cycle time, improve coverage, and lower lifecycle risk.
- Working with suppliers and following up on deliverables
- Work with leads and help with validation tasks
- Show ownership of the validation and impact at systems level
- Participating in project discussions
- Need to work with team of 9 people in US and 13 people in India and China
- Legacy Engineering is responsible for sustainment, compliance, validation, supplier support, and obsolescence management of legacy electronic and electrical systems across Client products.
