Software Engineer, Embedded Software Engineer
Location: Mossville
Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Quality/Test Engineer 3. The work will be done onsite, full-time in Mossville, IL. This is a long-term 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $48/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job SummaryCullerton Group is seeking a Quality/Test Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and testing of embedded software features for safety-focused machine applications. This role will focus on validating system-level functionality, developing automated test solutions, and ensuring high-quality deliverables across embedded controls. The engineer will work in an Agile environment and collaborate with global engineering, software, and validation teams. This position is ideal for someone who combines strong technical testing expertise with a systems-level mindset.
Key Responsibilities- Design and execute automated and manual test plans for embedded software and system features
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Python and related tools
- Analyze system-level requirements and translate them into effective validation strategies
- Perform issue triage, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis for test failures
- Collaborate with global cross-functional teams in Agile sprints, design reviews, and daily stand-ups
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related engineering field
- 5–7 years of professional experience in quality, test, or validation engineering
- Strong experience with automated test design and Python-based scripting
- Ability to read and interpret system-level documentation, schematics, and technical drawings
- Experience working with embedded systems and software development environments
- Experience with Linux-based embedded systems and version control tools (e.g., Git)
- Knowledge of functional safety concepts, safety-critical systems, or robotics/autonomy
- Familiarity with data link or system-level test equipment
- Strong written communication skills and ability to work effectively in a global team environment
