Wieland is hiring an Operational Technology Engineer role. The Operational Technology Engineer is responsible for the reliability, security, and performance of operational technology systems that support heavy industrial manufacturing equipment. This role bridges engineering, maintenance, and information technology by owning control systems, industrial networks, and automation layers that enable safe, stable, and efficient production operations. The Operational Technology Engineer provides technical expertise for troubleshooting, implementing system upgrades, supporting equipment modernization initiatives, and ensuring alignment with corporate cybersecurity and compliance requirements.
BaseSalary and Compensation
Base Salary Range: $88,313 - $132,469
May be eligible for a variable compensation plan bonus based upon company performance within fiscal year cycle.

ResponsibilitiesOperational Technology Support
- Provide hands‑on support and root‑cause troubleshooting for OT‑related issues on production equipment, HMIs, SCADA systems, industrial PCs, historian systems, and data acquisition devices.
- Maintain and optimize control logic, programming, and configuration for equipment such as rolling mills, furnaces, building and HVAC automation, and material‑handling automation.
- Works with the IT group to ensure that required security and system updates do not impact equipment performance.
- Support the integration of OT systems with MES, quality systems, and process monitoring platforms.
- Develop and maintain OT asset inventories, configuration documentation, and network diagrams.
- Implement preventive maintenance routines for PLCs, servers, switches, industrial networks, and operator interfaces.
- Lead obsolescence management efforts, proactively identifying end‑of‑life components and designing migration or upgrade plans.
- Implement and maintain OT cybersecurity controls including patching, user access management, secure remote access, network segmentation, and vulnerability mitigation.
- Support audits and assessments related to OT systems and industrial cyber hygiene.
- Lead or support capital and reliability improvement projects involving automation upgrades, hardware replacements, new equipment commissioning, and data integration initiatives.
- Work with OEMs, integrators, and internal engineers to implement system modifications and new capabilities.
- Develop scopes of work, technical specifications, and project schedules for OT‑related initiatives.
- Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, Production, Quality, and IT teams to ensure high equipment uptime and process stability.
- Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance technicians, electricians, and operators on OT systems and best practices.
- Act as the subject matter expert for operational data, event logs, and system diagnostics to support continuous improvement efforts.
