Job Title:
Mechanical Drafter - Associate Engineer
Job Description
The main function of a mechanical drafter is to prepare detailed working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices, including dimensions, fastening methods, and other engineering information.
Responsibilities
* Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
* Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
* Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment.
* Position instructions and comments onto drawings.
* Design scale or full-size blueprints of specialty items such as furniture and automobile body or chassis components.
* Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials.
* Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.
* Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.

* Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
* Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
* Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
* Knowledge of relevant computer applications such as CADD (Computer Aided Design and Drafting).
* 5-7 years of experience in CAD drafting/detailing, preferably with experience in CREO.
* High school diploma or GED required; internships accepted as experience.

Skills & Qualifications
* Proficiency with Creo for 3D modeling and 2D detailing.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving capabilities as applied to CAD tasks.
* Experience with Teamcenter for data management and release workflows.
* Knowledge of stainless steel sheet metal design, fabrication methods, and welding documentation.
* Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) as it relates to drafting and detailing.
* Ability to apply GD&T accurately per engineering standards.
* Exposure to Diesel and Gas Aftertreatment components or similar systems.
* Familiarity with print release processes and documentation methods.
Work Environment
The position involves working with computer-assisted drafting equipment and tools, focusing on precision technical plans, blueprints, and models. The work environment supports collaboration and requires a detail-oriented approach. The role also necessitates familiarity with modern data management systems and design software.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Chillicothe, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $31.00/hr.
