As a Camera Component Engineer, you will support the development and deployment of advanced camera and sensing technologies used in autonomous, safety, and operator-awareness systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across a wide range of machine platforms and real-world applications, combining hands-on testing, field validation, and technical problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities Testing & Validation- Execute performance testing of camera systems in lab and real-world field conditions
- Conduct environmental testing (temperature, vibration, durability) and third-party facilities
- Field of view
- Image quality under varying lighting conditions
- Test plans
- Test reports and documentation
- Troubleshoot and resolve camera system and hardware issues at component and PCBA level
- Use tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and diagnostic software
- Validate camera performance in real-world environments (natural light, low light, glare, etc.)
- Support camera systems used in:
- ADAS (driver assistance)
- Autonomous systems
- Safety and awareness features
- Work closely with third-party suppliers to develop and qualify camera products
- Partner with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and align on system performance goals
- Participate in team discussions, design reviews, and cross-functional meetings
- Office-based work with access to on-site labs
- Outdoor field testing on test vehicles and machines
- Occasional travel to nearby testing facilities (Mossville / Chicagoland area)
- Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- 5–7 years of experience in electronics or sensor development
- Experience working with camera systems, ADAS sensors, or robotics vision systems
- Strong hands-on experience in:
- Hardware testing and validation
- Environmental and performance testing
- Create and execute test plans
- Analyze results and generate technical reports
- Troubleshooting skills at:
- Familiarity with:
- Image quality evaluation (focus, color, lighting conditions)
- Camera system validation and calibration concepts
- Self-driven and proactive mindset
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Clear and concise communication skills
- Curious and inquisitive approach to technology
- Experience in:
- Automotive ADAS systems
- Robotics or machine vision
- Master’s degree (optional, not required)
- A hands-on engineer who enjoys working with hardware in both lab and field environments
- Someone passionate about emerging sensing technologies
- A team player who can support multiple programs and adapt in a fast-paced development environment
