Pay Rate: $37 - $40 an hr
We are seeking a motivated Research & Development Engineer II to join a fast-paced engine development team.
This role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with advanced engine technologies, supporting testing, troubleshooting, and analysis efforts in a collaborative engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, design, and test mechanical systems, engines, and related components
- Execute engine test plans and ensure proper test cell and equipment setup
- Troubleshoot engine and test cell issues to minimize downtime and improve efficiency
- Analyze design proposals, specifications, and technical documents to assess feasibility
- Support drafters and engineers in developing structural designs using CAD tools
- Document test results, hardware issues, and engineering findings
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including facilities, instrumentation, and mechanical support
- Oversee and support test cell operations and operators
- Participate in daily team stand-ups and shift handoff meetings
- Provide updates, contribute to troubleshooting discussions, and align on action plans
- Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure smooth test execution
- Work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with opportunities for flexible scheduling based on test activity
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 2-4 years of relevant experience (internships accepted)
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
- Experience with mechanical/electrical test setups and data acquisition equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented, self-starter with ability to work in a team environment
- Hands-on experience with diesel or large engine systems
- Familiarity with data analysis/visualization tools (MATLAB, CANape, DIAdem)
- Experience with emissions measurement equipment (e.g., Horiba, AVL)
- Understanding of control systems or PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley)
