Overview

KONE Inc. seeks Mechanical Engineer II at its facility located at 2266 US Highway 6, Coal Valley, IL 61240.

Responsibilities

Work on specific technical projects for planning, designing, and developing products, machines and other mechanical improvements to escalator, elevator, and moving walk systems.
Support installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of such equipment.
Coordinate closely with other engineering disciplines in the development and application of designs to improve product quality, efficiency, and reliability.
Plan and design components, higher level assemblies, and other mechanically functioning equipment.
Translate technical guidance into usable engineering data for assignments and large projects.
Occasionally guide technicians or drafters on specific projects.
Coordinate with Project Managers and support Pre-Bid requirements.
Perform design or development and manufacturing assignments for specific parts and components within various project phases.
Coordinate activities of Level I engineers or technicians on specific projects.
Collaborate with other departments to improve processes and with external field personnel to develop installation methodology for new designs.
Select materials based on strength, environmental impact, fatigue life, manufacturability, and overall cost.
Travel up to 10% domestically.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, plus 5 years of work experience in mechanical engineering and design for large assemblies (minimum of 750 components) in industries such as automotive, construction, agriculture, or heavy manufacturing equipment.

Experience reading, understanding, and applying ASME A17.1, B44, and EN 115 Safety Codes to the iterative design process.

Experience creating detailed engineering part drawings, assembly drawings, and component Bills of Materials using Creo, Windchill, and AutoCAD.

Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) modeling and interpretation, including reviewing analysis results, interpreting load path progression, and contributing to design improvements to achieve stable results.

Experience managing both strategic and tactical work streams as an individual contributor and in a large project environment for escalator, elevator, or moving walk systems projects.

Experience coordinating and/or guiding staff performing drafting and drawing detail execution, and applying iterative technical feedback to ensure document accuracy and detail.

Experience working across process partners and cross-functional teams to support project deliverables and improve processes including quality, manufacturing, and field personnel for escalator, elevator, or moving walk systems.

Rate of pay

$118,102 per year

Eligible for the KONE Bonus Plan (50/50) with a target bonus of $16,888.50, subject to company and individual performance.
