Location: Scott Air Force Base
Responsibilities
- Apply professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufacturer’s manuals.
- Possess thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures, replacement of components, sheet metal/structural modification and repair, and the ability to determine functionality of non‑complex electrical systems.
- Have detailed knowledge of aircraft tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tension‑meters, sheet metal brakes/sheers, etc.
- Provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers.
- Organize workload to meet aircraft delivery schedules.
- Document aircraft logs and records and provide guidance to lower‑level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and maintenance efforts.
- Physically capable of deploying with aircraft/unit to overseas locations.
- Comply with company maintenance and logistics procedures.
- Comply with FAA regulations and Air Force aircraft records procedures, ensuring discrepancies are properly recorded and corrected.
- Maintain a clean and organized workplace.
- Perform aircraft recovery missions as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Maintain, repair and modify aircraft structures, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty.
- Maintain and repair aircraft components including flight controls, engines, avionics/electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components, applying technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine malfunctions and restore equipment condition.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant License for a minimum of two years.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Proficient in reading, writing and speaking English; able to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints and internal company documents.
- Physical capability to work in tight spaces at heights and on wings; use ladders, operate tugs and aircraft support equipment; lift up to 75 pounds.
- Work with little or no supervision and accomplish assignments in a timely, quality manner.
- Ability to deploy to overseas locations on short notice.
- Perform all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance for the fleet of assigned Air Force aircraft.
- Comply with Air Force aircraft records procedures; ensure discrepancies are properly recorded and corrected according to approved maintenance procedures and contract terms.
- Experience with aircraft avionics maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Experience on C‑21 and/or Learjet 35.
- Turbofan experience.
- Military aviation maintenance experience.
