Job Description:
The Environmental Manager will provide leadership, mentoring and direction to hourly, salaried and management personnel engaged in Environmental, Health, and/or Safety (EHS) activities related to a medium to large facility.
Responsibilities- Identifies common and more complex safety/health/environmental hazards inherent in the organizations operations and establishes guidelines for protection from those hazards.
- Ensures EHS training is completed to comply with regulatory requirements or in support of facility, division, or enterprise objectives.
- Audits safety/health/environmental programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations, and adequacy relative to local conditions.
- Monitors periodic performance reports for trends and conditions, alerts line management to problems and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Policy Compliance: Extensive knowledge of EHS policies; ability to implement EHS policies to ensure that provided products and services are safe for people and the environment and in compliance with legal requirements and standards.
- Risk Management: Extensive knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.
- Collaborating: Extensive knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
- Problem Solving: Extensive knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
- Sustainability: Basic knowledge of sustainability strategy; ability to integrate sustainability into the overall business strategy of the organization to build a sustainable business model.
- Previous extensive experience in air compliance and air permit knowledge, drinking and water waste experience, hazardous waste regulations experience
- Previous experience working in Foundry, oil and gas, or paper mill
- This position is in Mapleton, IL
