CSA (Civil & Structural) Supervisor

Wood is recruiting for a CSA (Civil & Structural) Supervisor - Expression of Interest - 6 months to join its Singapore Business Unit focusing on all civil and structural construction activities on site, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and HSE requirements in Basra, Iraq. This role is a full-time office-based role in Basra, Iraq with travel requirement.

Note:

This role is for a short-term basis for a period of 6 months with a potential of extension

Responsibilities

The CSA Supervisor oversees and coordinates all civil and structural construction activities on site, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and HSE requirements. The role supports efficient progress in foundations, concrete works, earthworks, structural steel installation, and associated infrastructure works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Earthworks, site grading, excavation, back filling
  • Reinforced concrete works (footings, slabs, pedestals, culverts)
  • Structural steel erection, welding, alignment, and bolting
  • Building works, paving, drainage, roads, and utility trenches
  • Ensure work is carried out according to approved drawings, method statements, and ITPs.
  • Verify quantities and materials required for daily/weekly work plans.
  • Enforce site safety rules in accordance with project HSE standards and Iraq regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure PTW compliance for civil works such as excavation, hot works, lifting, and confined spaces.
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks and safety walkdowns with crews.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC for inspections: formwork, rebar, concrete pours, anchor bolts, grouting, steel works.
  • Ensure concrete production meets technical specs—slump test, cube samples, curing.
  • Monitor erection tolerances, survey levels, alignment checks, and geotechnical requirements.
  • Resolve technical queries and highlight design inconsistencies.
  • Monitor actual progress vs. planned progress and highlight deviations.
  • Prepare daily site reports covering manpower, equipment, material usage, and accomplished work.
  • Support planning and engineering teams in preparing progress measurement and look ahead schedules.
  • Coordinate workforce allocation, subcontractor teams, and equipment deployment.
  • Ensure resources are available to meet work fronts and schedule priorities.
  • Conduct coordination meetings and support interface management with mechanical, piping, and E&I disciplines.

Expected:

  • Bachelor's in civil engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.

Professional

Experience:

  • 10–15+ years civil/structural construction experience in oil & gas or industrial EPC projects.
  • Strong experience in foundations, concrete structures, buildings, and structural steel erection.
  • Experience working in Iraq or Middle East remote sites preferred.
  • Familiarity with brownfield works and SIMOPS is beneficial.
