Consultant For High-Technique In Hydropower Plants

Norconsult has Norway's largest professional environment in the design and consulting of electrotechnical components in hydropower plants. We are part of a large interdisciplinary consulting environment in renewable energy with more than 700 employees. Our customers are typically power companies, grid companies, power-intensive industries, developers of new green projects, contractors, and suppliers. The Power Plant and Power Transmission Division is central in the development of the largest new hydropower plants in Norway and the HVDC grid connection of Norway's largest offshore wind project, Southern North Sea II.

The Power Systems Department is a national professional environment with about 70 employees in power systems working with all phases of projects in analyses and surveys, planning, and design of electrical production, transmission, and distribution systems. The market is both traditional energy supply in Norway and abroad (mainly Asia and Africa). Through our projects abroad, there is an opportunity for exciting travel and professional challenges.

The department is central in the project development of new pumped storage power plants, upgrading existing large hydropower plants, and establishing new power plants in already regulated watercourses. Many power plants from the 70s and 80s still have original apparatus and control systems that need rehabilitation. Norconsult has several assignments in the western regions and is working on developing the new large hydropower plants.

The Power Systems Department works on the planning and specification of the electrotechnical equipment for these power plants. The department has several specialists in generators, transformers, apparatus, and control systems, and we get the exciting tasks of exploring root causes after accidents or voltage and power upgrades within limiting frameworks.

The Power Systems Department is looking for several power engineers who will become part of our professional team. Primarily, we are looking for people to our power systems environment in Sandvika, but we can also offer office space in one of our professional environments in Stavanger, Molde, Trondheim, Bergen, Lillehammer, or Mosjøen. You will then become part of a large national power systems professional environment working with hydropower plants, grid construction, renewable energy, and green industry.

The Power Systems Department has its main location in Sandvika outside Oslo.

Your job duties may include:

• General consulting to companies in the energy and industrial sectors
• Design of electrical high-voltage systems in hydropower plants
• Design of control systems for production plants
• Preparation of technical descriptions, evaluation, and contracting
• Technical and economic studies

For us, it is important that you:

• Have a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical power engineering/energy and environment/renewable energy
• Can show good academic results and/or good results from work experience
• Preferably have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience (younger people are also encouraged to apply)
• Preferably have a good understanding of generators, control systems, and the system technology in hydropower plants
• Have good presentation skills in Norwegian and English, written and oral
• Are market and customer-oriented, with a good network of contacts
• Have experience working on multidisciplinary projects
• Are creative and committed
