As a Sr Environmental Specialist I, you will serve as a trusted resource for interpreting requirements, navigating regulatory expectations, and helping the business operate responsibly in a dynamic operating environment. You’ll work closely with cross‑functional teams and external stakeholders, applying technical expertise, sound judgment, and a practical mindset to real‑world challenges. What

You’ll Do
  • Coordinate and deliver air compliance and regulatory support for refinery operations, ensuring process units, utility systems, and projects comply with applicable air permits, regulations, and company standards.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local air regulations affecting refineries, and interpret permit conditions to provide clear, practical guidance to operations, maintenance, engineering, and project teams.
  • Lead air permitting activities, including obtaining, renewing, and amending Title V and construction permits, and support air impact evaluations for unit modifications, turnarounds, and capital projects.
  • Monitor air compliance through emissions tracking, calculations, recordkeeping, and reporting, identifying trends, potential risks, and opportunities to improve compliance reliability.
  • Partner with operations, environmental teams, and regulators to support air‑related inspections, audits, and regulatory interactions, helping resolve findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and maintain air permits, compliance reports, deviation documentation, and supporting records to ensure information is accurate, complete, and inspection‑ready.
  • Support management of change activities by evaluating air impacts of operational changes and ensuring permitting and compliance requirements are addressed before implementation.
  • Communicate air regulatory updates and permit requirements to refinery teams, and help develop or coordinate air compliance training for affected personnel.
  • Apply sound judgment to manage competing priorities and deliver compliant, cost‑effective air solutions that support safe, reliable refinery operations.
What You’ll Bring – Required
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 or more years of air compliance, air permitting, or relevant experience
  • Intermediate or greater proficiency working with EPA regulations including Title V, NSR/PSD, NESHAPS, New Source Performance Standards (NSPS), Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT), and other local, regional, state, and federal environmental requirements
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)
  • Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to comply with the following:
    • Travel up to 5%
    • Operate company vehicle on site premises and/or public roads up to 10%
    • Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, and perform occasional duties.
    • Transport articles up to 50 pounds
    • Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet
    • Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines, around chemicals and hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat, and in harsh weather conditions.
    • Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment.
    • Maintain face daily for proper respirator/face mask seal. (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
