Manufacturing Quality Engineer
The Manufacturing Quality Engineer is responsible for leading the 8D and corrective action processes across two manufacturing sites. This position is centered on identifying and resolving quality issues at their root cause, ensuring corrective actions are effectively implemented and sustained, and minimizing repeat occurrences through strong problem-solving and preventive practices. The role involves driving investigations into recurring and high-impact quality concerns, partnering closely with plant and engineering teams, and enhancing the execution and long-term effectiveness of corrective actions throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the 8D and corrective action processes across two manufacturing sites.
- Identify root causes of quality issues and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented.
- Drive the reduction of repeat issues through strong problem-solving and prevention methodologies.
- Conduct investigations into recurring and high-impact quality concerns.
- Partner closely with plant and engineering teams to improve corrective action execution.
- Verify that corrective actions remain effective and prevent future recurrence.
- Analyze warranty, field, and internal defect data to identify trends and patterns.
- Utilize structured problem-solving methodologies and Lean principles to reduce defects.
- Incorporate lessons learned into PFMEA, APQP, and manufacturing control processes.
- Support updates to standard work practices and quality procedures based on investigation findings.
Essential Skills
- Strong proficiency in quality engineering and root cause analysis.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field preferred.
- 2 to 7 years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or reliability engineering.
- Experience managing corrective actions from initiation through verified closure.
- Proven ability to resolve recurring or chronic quality issues.
- Ability to work effectively across functions and drive actions without direct authority.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Lean principles and structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Familiarity with PFMEA, APQP, and manufacturing controls.
- Strong analytical capabilities for data analysis and trend identification.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Mt Carroll, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $105000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
