About the RoleWe are seeking a Structural Engineering Department Manager to lead our structural engineering division. This individual will oversee a team of engineers and designers, providing technical leadership, project management, and client engagement. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional who combines deep technical knowledge with strong leadership and business development skills.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the structural engineering department, providing technical direction and ensuring high-quality project delivery.
- Oversee structural design and analysis, with a primary focus on bridges and municipal transportation infrastructure.
- Review and approve structural calculations, drawings, and specifications, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop engineers and designers while managing workloads, schedules, and budgets.
- Support and oversee structural projects from concept through construction in coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for clients, supporting relationship management and business development efforts.
- Participate in proposal development, client meetings, and industry events, including occasional non-office hours.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Structural Engineering (SE) certification in Illinois required.
- Minimum 10 years of engineering design experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing schedules and budgets.
- Willingness to engage in business development and client outreach.
- Availability to attend meetings and events outside of normal office hours as required.
- Consistently professional conduct with staff, clients, and stakeholders.
- 5+ years of professional management or department leadership experience.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop engineering staff.
- PMP certification.
This position offers a salary range of $,000 per year along with comprehensive health benefits, PTO, and holiday pay. The listed salary range reflects the potential compensation for this role. Starting pay will be based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.
